Technical Support Engineer

Position Summary:

Provide installation and technical support for Echo360 software products.  Interface with customers via telephone and email to provide installation assistance, troubleshooting, patches and/or bug fixes, version upgrades, training, and best practices. Ensure high level of customer satisfaction by providing high quality issue resolution within the established response time intervals and service level standards.  Assist in QA testing new software version releases and patches.  Fulfill new product orders and submit paperwork for billing.  The ideal candidate would have a strong enterprise software background and would have past employment with Blackboard, WebCT, Datatel, Oracle or Peoplesoft OR would have worked in multimedia services in a university setting with course management and lecture capture technologies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Primary telephone and email technical support response for customers, resellers, and prospects.  Track all phone and email cases in Echo360 CRM database.
  • Provide installation, upgrade and training assistance onsite and remotely using screen sharing tools.
  • Liaison with Engineering to verify reported bugs, test fixes and patches, and deliver bug fixes and patches to clients and resellers.
  • Work with Sales and Sales Engineering to plan and execute evaluation software installation, pre-sale and post sale customer assistance and troubleshooting, custom feature testing and release.

    Position Requirements :

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Multimedia desired.
  • Be able to prioritize client, reseller and prospect issue resolution order.
  • Occasionally manage caller expectations in regards to licensing, support contract and new purchase account status in absence of higher management.

Solutions Engineer, Western Region

Job Summary:

The Western Region Solutions Engineer is responsible for executing the technical aspects of the Echo360 sales process in the Western and Northwestern territories. In conjunction with the assigned Echo360 Regional Sales Managers the Solutions Engineer will clearly articulate the value and relevance of the EchoSystem lecture capture platform within the context of each client’s unique technology environment. The Solutions Engineer will ensure a smooth transition from prospect to installed satisfied customer.

Major Responsibilities Include:

    A. Presales

  • Working closely with the Western and Northwestern Regional Sales Managers, the Solutions Engineer will perform technical qualification of Echo360 prospects and customers
  • Participate in conference calls, online and onsite presentations, demonstrations, pre- and post-deployment technical meetings as needed
  • The Solutions Engineer will travel within the Western and Northwestern regions for meetings with the Regional Sales Managers and their prospects and customers.
  • Develop EchoSystem deployment proposals for clients in response to their needs and technology environment, including hardware recommendations
  • Manage regional Echo360 product demonstration resources
  • Manage all technical aspects of prospects’ Proof of Concept (POC) evaluations establishing timelines, drivers, installation, training, and on-going follow-up activities
  • Continual education and positioning of competitive products and issues as they relate to the Echo360 product line
  • Provide technical responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs)

    B. Deployment Planning and Post Sales

  • Provide customers with technical knowledge and documentation required to prepare a classroom environment for installation. Serve as liaison and project manager between multiple departments (IT, AV, etc) within the institution, if necessary.
  • Understand customer deployment requirements and propose solutions including classroom configuration, IT backend and storage, AV integration, distribution mechanism based on customer environment
  • The Solutions Engineer may be required to offer installation assistance either remotely or onsite from time to time. Installations are the primary responsibility of the deployment engineer but a secondary responsibility of the solutions engineer during the peak installation season.
  • Work with regional Regional Sales Managers in harvesting activities to extend adoption and widen deployment of the EchoSystem lecture capture platform to additional segments of the institution.
  • Develop customized training programs and materials to assist customers and partners to successfully implement and use the EchoSystem lecture capture platform.

    C. Other Responsibilities

  • Serve as resource for tradeshow technical requirements, implementation and logistics as needed.
  • Create online training material and video podcasts for product documentation and “How To” modules.
  • Provide session capture assistance at partner and customer events showcasing the EchoSystem.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business or a related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in technology software sales
  • Windows 2003 Server or later
  • Experience with Active Directory in a Windows 2003 environment
  • Knowledge of Windows and Linux platforms including systems administration
  • Understanding of Windows/IIS and/or Linux/Apache Web server technologies

    Deployment Engineer


    Job No.: E114

    Project Management:

    • Consulting with the assigned Echo360 Regional Sales Manager and Sales Engineer to fully understand customer requirements and coordinate communication
    • Consulting with the Echo360 Sales Operations Administrator to monitor order fulfillment, license creation and other requirements for customer installations.
    • Contacting the customer directly to introduce yourself and explain your role
    • Working with the customer to define the EchoSystem deployment schedule, along with the roles and responsibilities of all involved parties
    • Providing installation coordination and project management for installation services engagements at customer sites
    • Managing customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments of the EchoSystem solution

    Installation and Deployment:

    • Providing consultative services to ensure the installation environment is suitable for the EchoSystem by working closely with academic departments (IT, Audio/Visual, etc.) to manage the deployment environment for a successful installation
    • Becoming an in-house expert on customer deployments and configurations
    • Understand customer requirements for deployment and propose solutions including classroom configuration, IT backend and storage, A/V integration, distribution mechanism based on
      customer environment
    • Performing the EchoSystem hardware and software installation in conjunction with the customer, either remotely or on-site depending on the customer requirements
    • Immediately following the successful completion of the EchoSystem installation, securing the Installation Certification from the customer and adding to CRM system.
    • Ensuring a smooth transition from installation to the Echo360 Technical Support team

    Post Sales Support:

      • Following up with the customer within 30 days of the installation to confirm that the EchoSystem solution is operating correctly
      • Escalates advanced customer support technical support problems to Echo360 technical support or resolves problems directly and in a timely fashion
      • Assisting with generation of key documentation including deployment and installation guides
      • Doccuments customer configuration and follow-up items. Complete follow-up tasks through coordination with product team and customer
      • Providing ongoing product and customer experience feedback to Echo360 groups and managers

        Qualifications:

          • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, business or a related field
          • Minimum 2-4 years experience in enterprise software deployment
          • Excellent project management skills
          • Superior customer communications skills, written and verbal
          • Strong customer service orientation
